New Moon in Virgo: Setting Intentions, Finding Balance and Taking Practical Steps

The New Moon in Virgo brings an opportunity to pause, reflect, and think about what you would like to create, change, or nurture in your life.

The energy of the New Moon is often associated with setting intentions. But an intention is more than simply wishing for something. It is about considering where you would like to go and then taking small, practical steps towards it.

And this is where the energy of Virgo can be so helpful.

Working with Virgo energy

Virgo energy encourages us to be practical, observant, and thoughtful. It asks us to look at our lives as they really are, rather than through rose-tinted glasses.

This can be a wonderful time to look at your daily routines, habits, responsibilities, and well-being and gently ask yourself:

  • Is this still working for me?

  • Where are you giving your energy?

  • Where are you receiving it?

  • What needs a little more attention?

  • And what might you be ready to let go of?

Virgo isn't necessarily about making everything perfect. Instead, it can remind us that small changes to our everyday lives can make a big difference over time.

I work with a fox when the moon is in Virgo. This is my picture of a fox.

The fox as a guide for the Virgo New Moon

For me, the fox is a beautiful symbol to work with during the Virgo Moons.

Foxes are resourceful, observant, and wise. They have a caring heart but also an analytical mind. They know when to search for what they need, when to care for others, and when it is time to rest.

Perhaps the fox has something to teach us about balance, too.

  • Have you been caring so much for others that you have forgotten to fill your own cup?

  • Have you been putting your own needs first, and perhaps there is somewhere you could offer a little more support?

  • Is the load you are carrying becoming too heavy?

  • Or have you allowed someone else to carry too much of it for you?

There is no judgement in these questions. The Virgo New Moon simply offers us an opportunity to look honestly and gently at where we are right now.

A New Moon intention for your daily life

This New Moon, take a look at your everyday routines.

  • Where could you be more supportive of yourself?

  • Where could you create a little more balance?

  • What small change could make your days feel calmer, kinder, or more manageable?

You don't have to change everything at once.

In fact, you don't have to change very much at all.

Perhaps your intention is simply to drink more water, spend a few minutes outside each day, create a better bedtime routine, make time for something creative, say no when you need to, or finally permit yourself to rest.

Small steps count.

So, as you set your New Moon intentions, try asking yourself each morning:

What small step can I take today towards my intention?

Then take that step.

And tomorrow, ask yourself again.

Perhaps, like the fox, we can learn to be more resourceful with our energy — knowing when to act, when to care, when to receive, and when to rest.

The New Moon in Virgo reminds us that transformation doesn't always arrive as a great, dramatic moment.

Sometimes it begins quietly, with one small choice.

  • Set your intention.

  • Take one practical step.

  • And trust that small steps, taken consistently, can lead you somewhere new.

New Moon in Virgo reflection: journal prompts

Before you move on with your day, take a few quiet moments to journal:

  • What do I need more of in my daily life?

  • What do I need less of?

  • Where is my energy going?

  • What is one small, practical step I can take towards my intention?

You don't need all the answers.

Just begin where you are.

New Moon in Virgo: Creative Prompts

Virgo invites us to pay attention to the details, including the things we often take for granted.

Our bodies carry us through every day. They breathe for us, move for us, heal for us, and allow us to experience the world around us. Yet how often do we actually stop and feel grateful for all that our bodies do?

This New Moon, perhaps your creative practice can be a simple act of gratitude for your body.

A creative New Moon practice

Write a thank-you letter to your body, thanking it for all that it does for you.

You might thank your hands for all the things they create, your feet for carrying you, your eyes for allowing you to see the beauty around you, or your heart for continuing to beat without you ever having to ask it to.

And don't just write it — decorate it and turn your letter into a piece of art.

Add colour, patterns, drawings, flowers, words or anything else that feels meaningful to you.

There is no right or wrong way to do this. This isn't about creating something perfect. It is simply a chance to slow down, connect with yourself, and practise a little gratitude for the body that carries you through this life.

Perhaps this is one small step towards treating yourself with the same care and kindness that you so readily offer to others.

I look forward to seeing you at the meditation. Cxxx
