Carolyn Mathews BSC, PGCE, PgC.
Welcome to a learning space where your child is truly seen, supported, and encouraged to thrive. With over 20 years of classroom experience, I provide a calm, engaging, and confidence-building environment where learning feels enjoyable, interactive, and meaningful—not overwhelming.
I bring a strong academic foundation to my teaching, with two postgraduate qualifications (one in Education and one in Working with Children and Young Adults) alongside a degree in Psychology. This unique combination allows me to understand not just how children learn, but why they learn the way they do. Every lesson is thoughtfully tailored to your child’s individual strengths, challenges, and learning style.
My approach goes beyond academics. I focus on building confidence, curiosity, and a genuine love of learning—skills that support children not just at school, but throughout their lives. If you’re looking for a patient, experienced educator who will nurture your child’s growth and help them feel capable, motivated, and proud of their progress, you’re in the right place.

"Working with Carolyn has been an incredible experience for my son. She is consistently punctual, offers the convenience of virtual tutoring, and most importantly, tailors every session to his unique needs rather than following a rigid, one-size-fits-all approach. Her creativity in teaching keeps him engaged, and her kind, compassionate nature makes him feel truly supported. I wish there were more educators like her in our classrooms and beyond:)"

I have experience teaching both in-person and online across a wide range of ages, with a special focus on elementary-aged children. Whether your child needs support with homework or would benefit from targeted sessions to strengthen gaps in understanding, I tailor each lesson to help children build confidence and lasting skills.
I firmly believe that children learn best when they are engaged and enjoying the process. Rather than relying on rote repetition—which can quickly drain motivation—I design sessions that are interesting, interactive, and memorable. Learning should feel positive and achievable, and my sessions often include a game or two to keep children motivated while reinforcing key concepts.
Sessions are available online or in person in Deep River and are priced at $45 per hour.
If you’re looking for supportive, experienced guidance to help your child feel more confident and capable at school, I’d love to work with your family. Get in touch to discuss your child’s needs and book a session—spaces are limited, and early support can make a lasting difference.
